Three Castle Head

A remote ruined castle at the tip of the Mizen Peninsula

Three Castle Head is the westernmost point of the Mizen Peninsula in West Cork, topped by the ruins of Dunlough Castle, a complex of three tower houses traditionally said to have been built around 1210 by the O'Mahony clan. The castle sits dramatically between the freshwater Dun Lough and sheer cliffs dropping to the Atlantic. It's a far quieter, more remote site than the better-known cliffs further north, reached on foot across private farmland.
