Murder Hole Beach

A hidden dune-backed cove with an unusual name

Murder Hole Beach, officially Boyeeghether Bay, is a remote, dune-backed cove on the Rosguill Peninsula near Melmore Head on Donegal's north coast. Local tradition traces the unusual name to either old smuggling and shipwreck stories or to dangerous currents, and swimming there is still generally discouraged. The beach is reached only on foot via walking trails and has become widely known in recent years through social-media photography.
